Description: The “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” movement is aimed towards reducing the amount of waste generated by society. In particular, waste ends up in landfills, and some types of waste, such as plastics, take an extraordinary length of time to decompose. Our research on managing waste includes both landfill and controlled lab studies to gain knowledge on methane generation, leachate, and decomposition of challenging types of waste.
